Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Well Being

Electrified logistics

As part of its “Mission Green” initiative, Hegelmann Group Germany is advancing its commitment to sustainable logistics with the integration of Volvo FM 500 Electric Trucks. This step highlights our focus on innovation and reducing carbon emissions across operations.

Project Overview

Hegelmann introduced two Volvo FM 500 Electric Trucks into fixed-route service on February 6th, 2024. Each vehicle covers approximately 5,000 km monthly, delivering high efficiency, zero-emission performance, and reliable operation—ideal for meeting both environmental goals and logistical demands.

Alongside investing in biofuel-powered trucks, we see electric trucks as a key driver in the decarbonization of logistics. In addition to their environmental benefits, these trucks can operate in zero-emission zones and during hours when diesel trucks are subject to restrictions.

Performance and Impact

Operational feedback has been highly positive, with drivers noting improved comfort and handling. The transition has delivered meaningful energy savings and lower operational costs, while significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.

Looking Ahead

Building on this success, Hegelmann will continue expanding its electric fleet and exploring new technologies to accelerate its sustainability journey. The electric truck initiative sets a strong foundation for green logistics, supporting our long-term vision of a low-carbon transport future.
