Health and Safety Management

Hegelmann is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. The company integrates Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management and risk mitigation into its operations to safeguard employees, subcontractors, and the communities in which it operates.

Health and Safety Management

Hegelmann implements a comprehensive health and safety management system to minimize workplace hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Health and Safety Risk Assessments & Compliance:

Annual risk assessments are conducted to identify, evaluate, and mitigate hazards across all work activities. These assessments are regularly updated to align with current safety standards and legal regulations.

The company coordinates Occupational Safety Committee (ASA) meetings with external safety specialists and the company physician to review emerging risks and ensure proper safety measures.

For workers without fixed locations, including drivers, Hegelmann provides:

  • Regular health and safety risk assessments
  • Continuous safety training (available in multiple languages)
  • Formal accident and injury investigations with corrective actions
  • Workplace adaptations to improve safety conditions
  • A legally compliant health surveillance process to monitor worker well-being

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Policy & Implementation

Hegelmann has established an OHS policy covering employees and subcontractor drivers. While the policy exists, formal documentation and integration into job roles are ongoing initiatives. Key focus areas include:

Road safety risks: Vehicle technical standards, accident prevention, and security risks

Driver working conditions: Access to essential facilities (e.g., drinking water, toilets, and resting places)

Emergency support: 24/7 emergency contact services

Subcontractor compliance: Fully integrated subcontractors must adhere to ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, IFS Logistics 3.0, SQAS, and TISAX standards.

    Training and Employee Engagement

A Health and Safety Committee and elected driver representatives ensure ongoing employee consultation.

Training materials are provided in multiple languages, and training records are meticulously maintained.

Hegelmann aims to enhance its OHS framework by formalizing policy documentation, integrating OHS responsibilities into official job roles, and implementing structured training programs.

In 2024, Hegelmann conducted fire evacuation and first aid trainings in Germany. The fire evacuation training equipped employees with practical knowledge on emergency procedures, including evacuation routes, alarm response, and the safe use of fire extinguishers, and first aid training provided participants with essential life-saving skills such as CPR, wound care, and emergency response techniques, ensuring they are prepared to assist effectively until professional medical help arrives.
